NVIDIA RTX 3060 purposely impedes the efficiency of mining

NVIDIA purposefully cripples the Ethereum mining ability of their forthcoming GeForce RTX 3060 GPU by 50% to expand the inventory for gamers.

NVIDIA today announced the next launch of the GeForce RTX 3060 for $329 on February 25th and has taken an enormous measure to ensure that the miners are not robbing the entire inventory released.

The RTX 3060 drivers would intentionally reduce efficiency by 50 percent when the card used for cryptocurrency mining is detected instead of the GPU being used for any reason.

“With the launch of GeForce RTX 3060 on Feb. 25, we’re taking an important step to help ensure GeForce GPUs end up in the hands of gamers.”

“RTX 3060 software drivers are designed to detect specific attributes of the Ethereum cryptocurrency mining algorithm, and limit the hash rate, or cryptocurrency mining efficiency, by around 50 percent.”

“That only makes sense. Our GeForce RTX GPUs introduce cutting-edge technologies — such as RTX real-time ray-tracing, DLSS AI-accelerated image upscaling technology, Reflex super-fast response rendering for the best system latency, and many more — tailored to meet the needs of gamers and those who create digital experiences,” Nvidia announced today.

NVIDIA plans to shift crypto-currency miners into their latest line of CMP dedicated mining GPUs by deliberate reductions in the current RTX 3060.

The latest CMP GPUs have no displaying port and range from 26 MH/s to 86 MH/s at various hash rates.

As NVIDIA states that RTX 3060 is being crippled by the device drivers, whether it can be bypassed by software or drivers from third parties is unknown.
