Netflix began testing the top ten lists feature in the UK and Mexico last year in order to assist users in discovering new content to watch. The lists are also available as an official option on the streaming service.
Netflix’s most popular TV shows and movies will no longer be a company secret. Subscribers will eventually have access to the details through the top ten lists, which will begin arriving now.
Netflix: Top 10 In U.S. Today
The feature will debut as a new row that will highlight Netflix’s top ten most popular titles. “In addition to the overall top ten list, you’ll be able to see the top ten most popular series and top ten films when you click on the movies and TV shows tabs,” the company said in a statement today.
Netflix also has a “trending now” list, but it has not ranked the top ten shows or movies. Last year, the company began testing a top ten list feature in the UK and Mexico as a way to help viewers discover new content to watch. Netflix said, “Members in both countries have found them useful, so we are now rolling them out to even more.”
The top ten list, which will be updated on a regular basis, will only show you what is currently popular in your country. The location of the top ten rows on your Netflix interface will also change “depending on how relevant the shows and films are to you,” according to the company. As a result, you may or may not see the functionality prominently highlighted at the top of your Netflix feed.
Netflix: Top 10 Shows
Netflix will also display a “Top 10” badge next to shows and movies that have topped the headlines. “That way, whether you are browsing by genre or through your personal list — or searching for specific shows or films,” the company added, “you can easily see what is in the zeitgeist.”
