The Ubisoft title, which takes place in a country-inspired by Cuba, will be released on October 7th.
With a peek at its next first-person shooter “Far Cry 6,” Ubisoft capped off a week of big reveals.
Far Cry 6
For a long time, Giancarlo Esposito, who appeared in “The Mandalorian” and “Breaking Bad,” was the game’s face as dictator Antón Castillo, but the game’s role players were revealed this week. “Far Cry 6” follows Dani Rojas, a military dropout, on her exploits. The protagonist can be either a male or a female, depending on the player’s preference. Ubisoft teased a female Dani in the trailers.
Dani joins a guerilla movement to bring down Castillo and his army of 300,000 soldiers. Ubisoft was open about the game’s influence on Yara, the fictitious country in which it is set. The environment is inspired by Cuba, replete with buildings reminiscent of the Communist country and old automobiles still on the road.
With so many parallels, why didn’t Ubisoft simply put it in Cuba? It might be to prevent an international incident with real-world nations, as occurred when the company set “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands” in Bolivia. It enraged the administration, and the country filed a formal complaint with France.
The game has a “Mercenaries” vibe to it because players are mostly acting alone against a well-armed military (co-op is available). Using what Ubisoft refers to as the “resolver” spirit, players may cause all kinds of havoc.
It is the concept of being resourceful and using whatever tool at hand as a weapon or tool. As a result, players are forced to carry a minigun powered by a motorcycle engine or carry a homing missile backpack. Dani is also seen driving a tank and destroying adversaries with it in the preview.
“Far Cry 6” appears to be following in the footsteps of previous games. Players will build resistance and employ locales and other safe havens as bases. It looks that side missions and other activities, such as dominoes, will be available to players. When Castillo’s soldiers pass by, they’ll have to go stealthy by holstering their weapons. Players may expect different factions and drama as the revolution progresses, based on previous games.
“Far Cry 6” stands out since it appears to contain a diverse set of locales. The open-world shooter is set in a tropical rainforest, but the trailer also reveals more metropolitan settings, such as a port with cargo containers and a capital city with low-rise structures and skyscrapers. Players will be forced to change up their strategies and weaponry as the game progresses. With this in mind, Ubisoft claims that “Far Cry 6” will be able to handle a variety of gameplay styles, including stealth and more forceful combat.
Players will be able to recruit companions such as Guapo, an ex-KGB spy’s pet crocodile, and Chorizo, a charming dachsund who uses a wheelchair, similar to “Far Cry 5.” They can assist players when they are overpowered by adversaries or they can open up fresh offensive chances. The use of a horse to get about is one of the more interesting innovations. The beast of burden may open up new gaming possibilities.
In some places, the campaign appears to be rather beautiful. The surroundings that include shadows and vast vistas are stunning. It’ll be intriguing to see how main developer Ubisoft Toronto uses the current systems’ capability to improve the project’s visuals. The puddles on the ground in the preview previously hinted towards ray tracing. It’s possible that this is a title that lends itself to a Photo Mode.
“Far Cry 6” will be released on October 7 on the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Amazon Luna, and PC.
